Department Information



The Office of Intercollegiate Athletics is actively seeking 1 NAIA Head Coach to join and lead the Indiana University Northwest RedHawks for the 2 varsity sports of Women's Cross Country and Men's Cross Country.


The Office of Intercollegiate Athletics promotes and enhances the quality of student engagement at IU Northwest. In collaboration with club and recreational sports and other academic and administrative offices, Intercollegiate Athletics serves as the integral component for student involvement and community engagement, providing a supportive environment that encourages student athlete academic success, positive experience and success in competition.


IU Northwest is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).



Job Summary





  • Complies fully with all NAIA, applicable athletic conference, and Indiana University rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

  • Provides leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student athletes by counseling team members in academic, disciplinary, sportsmanship, and personal matters, as appropriate.

  • Develops a competitively successful team to represent Indiana University positively and responsibly. Provides student athletes the opportunity for a positive experience and climate in which to achieve their academic, athletic, and personal goals.

  • Performs recruiting duties by formulating a plan to incorporate coverage of all prospective student athletes and recruiting high-quality student-athletes that meet or exceed university qualifications.

  • Represents the team, department, and university in a positive, professional, and ethical manner; responds appropriately to media, marketing, fund-raising, and community service requests, as assigned.

  • Exhibits professionalism in a manner consistent with the missions and goals of Indiana University, applicable athletic conference, and the NAIA.

  • Directs coaching staff, when applicable.

  • Maintains program budget.




Qualifications



Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.


EDUCATION



Required



  • Bachelor's degree

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • 4 years of coaching experience

  • 1 year of management experience


Preferred



  • Head coaching experience at High School varsity or collegiate levels

  • Work experience in higher education

  • Experience in collegiate recruiting, budget management, travel planning, opponent scouting and daily practice preparation is essential

  • Experience collaborating with students, faculty, and staff to program campus event

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES



Preferred



  • Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire

  • CPR Certification - Athletics Department will provide training for those not already certified

Working Conditions / Demands



This position requires both sedentary work and long durations of movement about the workspace. It requires the ability to move and transport objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential tasks with or without an accommodation.



Additional Information



This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Preference will be provided to local and regional candidates; relocation assistance is very limited for this role.

Advertised Salary



Salary Range: $35,000 - $40,000 annually
