The Commercial Roofing Estimator reports to the Division Director and is responsible for client communication, preparing and submitting the Prebid package (estimate, budget, and schedule), and traveling to the project site as necessary to collect pertinent information
Job Requirements:
Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial roofing projects
Conduct detailed analyses of project specifications, blueprints, and drawings
Collaborate with A&E and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimates
Perform quantity takeoffs through drawings, prints, and other measures, including site visits as needed
Determine the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for commercial roofing
Prepare estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling project work
Manage pre-qualification and pre-bid submission
Ensure that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline
Client communication (local & corporate) at specified intervals to set and maintain expectations
Communicate internally the client expectations to ensure a smooth transition into production
Work with the internal Prebid review team to finalize estimates and distribute them to the client
Assist in subcontractor and vendor selection and vetting as needed
Prepare turnover package and complete project hand-off to Project Manager
Re-engage as necessary during production to review progress
Performs other related duties and assignments as required
Qualifications
Experience as a Commercial Roofing Estimator in the general construction field as a general contractor representative
Minimum of at least three (3) years of commercial roofing estimating
Edge Software experience is preferred
Extensive knowledge of established construction and maintenance practices, procedures, and techniques, as well as applicable local, state, and federal building codes and legislation
Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details
Able to prioritize and multi-task, proactive and deadline-oriented, and have interpersonal skills
Must possess strong negotiation skills
Time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills
Ability to closely collaborate with other project teams and stakeholders
Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Computer skills including internet, e-mail, (MS Outlook) MS Excel, and MS Word, Edge
Experience with estimating software
Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university; or (5+) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
