Pay Range*: $20.00/hr - $29.00/hr

Position Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center. The employee shall support Orange Coast Medical Center's strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.

The Radiology Therapeutic Receptionist, functions to support the front office operations, Patient Account Representatives and Supervisor. This position is clerical in nature and is responsible for greeting all patients both in person and on the phone and ensuring that the front office is clean, organized and stocked to support all front office operations. Excellent customer service and communication with patients, referring offices, and interdisciplinary team members is required. The receptionist also performs registration and scheduling functions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job


  • Effectively communicates information to staff and patients with quality customer service skills.
  • Maintains a neat, organized work environment according to specific work related supplies and reference material locations. Collects and compiles accurate information for hospital records and for timely reimbursement
  • Demonstrates expertise in scheduling and registering clients ensuring no overlapping appointments (for consultation and follow-up appointments); verifies and updates patient information in Cadence and/or Aria in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Delivers quality customer service to all inclusive of interdepartmental, verbal, and written communications.
  • Communicates in user friendly, simple, laymen terms to ensure understanding, accept questions from others and return gracious feedback.
  • Effectively applies organizational skills ensuring patients and staff are well informed, demonstrates telephone, verbal/non-verbal, fax and email etiquette.
  • Maintains supplies and organization of the front office workspace
  • Evaluates the demands of physicians, staff and superiors, responding timely and appropriately.
  • Communicates information concerning patients' pertinent clinical information, ensuring legibility and demographic completeness.
  • Ability to be at work and be on time.
  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications/Work Experience:


  • One-year clerical and filing experience preferred
  • Acute care hospital or clinic experience preferred
  • Basic computer understanding required
  • Medical Terminology required

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
