Position Overview: The purpose of this position is to provide Entry Level Driver Training to employees obtaining a CDL. This position will be responsible for preparing individuals for all aspects of the hands-on operations of a commercial vehicle by guidelines set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. This position will ensure our new CDL drivers are fully prepared to take the required test, obtain their CDL through State testing agencies and to safely operate commercial motor vehicles.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to
Comply with U.S. Department of Transportation regulations, as well as State and/or local laws
Instruct individuals on behind-the-wheel training, including all areas outlined in the National Propane Gas Association Training Materials and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
Document areas which need improvement and work with trainee to obtain thorough knowledge on specific topics
Submit proper documentation of training completion, in a timely manner, via the Training Provider Registry portal
Answer questions and provide feedback to trainee during instruction
Promote and maintain a positive learning environment
Travel within company trade territory
Occasional overnight travel
Skills and Qualifications:
Must possess a valid Class A or Class B, commercial driver license (CDL)
Must have current DOT medical card
Must be willing and able to become a certified trainer through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
Must possess a clean driving history
Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screen upon employment, and as requested
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Must have basic computer capabilities, including the use of the internet
Have the desire to provide thorough instruction to new CDL obtaining drivers
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to climb in and out of a truck
Must be able inspect trucks and trailers
Ability to stoop, stand, walk, sit and kneel for extended periods of time
