Senior Drafting Technician
Job Summary:

The Senior Drafting Technician is responsible for the development of 3D design and drafting processes and procedures utilizing industry recognized storage tank design/drafting software. The Senior Drafting Technician reports directly to the Director of Production.

Job Duties:
Facilitate the modernization of multiple internal companies drafting procedures related to ground and elevated storage tanks as well as communication towers and structural steel fabrication.Learn and master design/drafting software for steel tanks to provide continuous improvement focusing on accuracy and efficiency.Run tank design calculations utilizing design software.Manage 3rd Party Drafting subcontractors by answering their questions and providing them with required information.Work closely with the Drafting Department Manager to learn PTT drafting style and coordinating work schedules among the internal and external draftsmen.Train and mentor the Drafting Team by expanding their experience, knowledge, and capabilities utilizing 3D tank design and drafting software.Produce fabrication detail drawings to facilitate drawing submittal deadlines.Coordinate engineering requirements with in-house and external engineers.Assist multiple company Sales Departments with preliminary designs, GA drawings and bid submittal sketches as required.Review multiple internal company drawing standards for correctness and update them to current Industry & Code standards.Attend project kick-off meetings and gather required information to facilitate the drafting process.Communicate with the Project Managers to get questions answered and advise them of any constructability concerns that may arise while drawings are being produced.Coordinate material requirements with Purchasing for specialty projects for which materials are not kept in inventory.Address all redline drawings provided by shops for timely correction of drawings. Qualifications:
Associates Degree or higher is preferred. Experienced with using AutoCAD drafting software. Strong background in drawing presentation, material designations and assembly details. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Familiar with engineering concepts and terminology. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Detail oriented and high capacity to work in a focused and methodical manner. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Organizational and follow-up capabilities Strong math and geometry skills. Excellent communication skills.
Experience with 3D storage tank design and modeling software (AME Tank) is preferred.Steel storage tank construction, welding and piping knowledge is preferred.

FLSA Classification: Exempt
Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and as needed to facilitate company performance and respond to unexcepted needs.
