Overview

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the terminal and shipping department. Demonstrated ability to perform all responsibilities of Operator I, II, and III. Acts as a local site contact. Participates in conference calls, supervises, and schedules employees, assists in budget preparation and forecasting, supports other Continental operations as required.

Roles & Responsibilities


  • The Terminal Manager will be responsible for overseeing the loading of bulk trucks in a safe, efficient, and timely manner designating which silo is utilized. The candidate will also ensure that each load is completed to the customer's specification within legal limits, performing quality checks and providing excellent service to customers, processing bill of ladings, verifying accuracy of paperwork, interprets and understands readings on equipment instrumentation panels (capable of making PLC programming decisions), manages inventory and vendors, participates in formal and informal training programs to broaden both technical and soft skills, cross trains in activities, participates in team environment.
  • Responsible for safe, proper use and operation of loading and unloading equipment (vibrators, compressors, blowers, pumps, front-end loader, man lifts, railcar mover, air valves, pneumatic door opener, boot lifts, hoisting equipment, pneumatic barge unloading, etc.)
  • Lead routine maintenance on pumps, compressors, valves, and actuators, preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • The employee for this position must adhere to company safety policies and perform work in a safe manner and be dedicated to open communications to continuously improve Continental operations with a goal of ZERO Lost Time Accidents, Medical and First Aid Incidents. Other key functions of this position include cleaning all areas of the terminal and grounds and obtaining daily/weekly samples.
  • Ensures environmental compliance on all shipping equipment.
  • Represents the Company to employees of outside transportation companies and customers. Treats all visitors and customers professionally with a friendly, customer-service oriented attitude.
  • Ensures clean and presentable shipping facility.
  • Assist at other Continental Cement locations as required, assist in the training of new hires, generate reports, remain compliant with internal control procedures, communicating deviations from established standards and performs all other duties and functions required by terminal management associated with the operation of the terminal so long as those duties do not present a hazard or violate any known governmental law.

Skills & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5-7 years in operations and/or maintenance with some supervisory experience; 3-5 years preventative maintenance, detecting and resolving operational challenges.
  • Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour shift, up to 7 days per week. Overtime and holidays as necessary; ability to work alone without immediate supervision.
  • Basic ability to use Microsoft word, outlook and excel.
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Preventative maintenance experience and/or use of Maximo or similar preventive maintenance system
  • Ability to work in extreme heat and cold, in enclosed areas such as barges, dust collectors and pump pits.
  • Abilit to work in noisy and dusty conditions, to operate forklifts and tractors for cutting grass.
  • Travel 10-20%
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.

Frequent exposure to walking on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions, moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, high and/or confined spaces, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions and explosives. Occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) lbs. independently and tolerate moderate noise levels.
