Overview


This position is responsible for coordinating shipping functions in Piscataway, NJ for all domestic and international freight. This position will be responsible for internationally routed freight using our customer’s forwarder and Humanscale-controlled freight. Equally important is the responsibility for duties that include tracking items, handling distribution and product delivery analytics, monitoring loading and unloading, and ensuring staff are properly trained in safety and procedures. The manager will supervise the outbound shipping team.


Responsibilities


• Use software to track, check, prioritize, and route orders
• Manage shipping documentation, such as advanced shipping notices, pick slips, and bills of lading
• Direct the flow of packages / pallets from preparation to shipment
• Inspect completed orders and ensure they meet quality standards
• Supervise subordinates
• Manage the shipping department’s budget
• Collaborate with other managers to resolve order-related issues and optimize processes
• Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies
• Report activities and issues to management
• Conduct root cause analysis of variances as required
• Ensure the shipping team provides timely and accurate query management to the sales support team
• Coordinate/monitor training and professional development of employees
• Interact with carriers to manage delivery appointment schedules
• Ideate, implement and take ownership of OTD KPIs
• Perform other related duties as required by management


Qualifications


  • 3-5 years warehousing/dock experience in an ERP environment – Infor preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics or related field
  • Detail-orientated and able to work with numbers and people
  • Strong knowledge of distribution methods
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills
  • Ability to use a hand truck, forklift, and pallet jack
  • Lean manufacturing/warehousing experience a plus
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Computer Skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel
