Position Details



The Department of English and Writing within the College of Arts and Letters at The University of Tampa invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position to teach courses in Academic Writing to begin in August 2024.

We seek applicants capable of teaching AWR 101: Writing and Inquiry and AWR 201: Writing and Research, our first- and second-year courses that teach critical reading, writing, and research skills. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.


Our vibrant and growing Academic Writing (AWR) Program welcomes applicants with experience and enthusiasm for teaching academic writing to students with diverse backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated teacher with a demonstrable commitment to academic writing and writing pedagogy. The on-campus, in-person teaching load will be 24 credit hours per year in academic writing, typically consisting of six four-hour courses. In addition to teaching duties, successful candidates will contribute to the Academic Writing Program by participating in curricular initiatives, taking part in committee work, and developing collegial exchanges with peers.


Successful candidates will have college- or university-level experience teaching academic writing and demonstrated scholarly/professional activity.
