Job Description:




The Carlson School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Clark University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor to begin in Fall 2024. The position will oversee the Introductory Chemistry laboratory sections and teach additional courses, either for majors or non-majors. We seek a passionate educator who will be responsible for managing the laboratory sections, supervising the graduate TAs, and presenting pre-lab lectures. Those interested in teaching at a dynamic, small research university are encouraged to apply.






Requirements:




A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field by the date of appointment is required. Experience managing or mentoring undergraduate students is expected. Candidates are expected to demonstrate promise for excellent teaching at the undergraduate level and to be prepared to teach Introductory Chemistry material for the laboratory sections.








Preferred Qualifications:




Candidates should demonstrate the potential to contribute through teaching, and/or leadership to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience in STEM. An experimentalist background is preferred but not required. The ability to teach additional subjects beyond Introductory Chemistry, such as Biochemistry or Organic, Analytical or Physical Chemistry, or other upper-level elective courses, is desirable.

The Carlson School offers both undergraduate (B.A.) and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) degrees in biochemistry and molecular biology, and chemistry. Student engagement in research is a major focus of both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
