Job Description:

DHHS Public Health Division needs a specialist to coordinate the prevention, outreach, intervention, and education activities to stop the spread of STI's which can have devastating effects if left untreated!


Job duties:


* Provide STI prevention, outreach, education, and intervention.
* Develop and conduct in-person and online training, serve as a community resource and STI subject matter expert.
* Track and monitor grant deliverables, and assist STI Program Manager with grant writing and activities.
* Perform timely partner services and case management, conduct comprehensive interviews of cases and contacts, follow up with patients diagnosed with STIs.
* Document disease intervention specialist (DIS) activities, work to ensure patient treatment and testing.
* Participate in community events and outreach, maintain knowledge of disease trends and outbreaks, and participate in outreach and preparedness planning and events.



Requirements / Qualifications:




Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework/training in community health education, biological science, adult/continuing education or related field AND experience in public/community health education activities with responsibility for developing and evaluating health education programs; determining health needs; preparing educational and informational materials, training aids, and presentations; or conferring with individuals and groups to exchange information pertinent to community health education programs.



Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a field related to public health, social services, human services, program administration, or other relevant field. Experience will be considered as an alternative to a formal degree.



Other: Valid Driver's License



Schedule: M-F 8am-5pm with some flexibility



Helpful knowledge, skills, and abilities:



Knowledge of STIs/HIV, formal Disease Intervention Specialist or related training,



Skills: interviewing, problem-solving, and active listening skills, critical thinking, and resolution skills; case management and time management; and computer skills.



Ability to multitask, establish effective working relationships with community providers and partners;ability to work independently, and work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
