The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services. The Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases (CTEGD) at the University of Georgia is one of the largest international centers of excellence focused on research for diseases of poverty. Based on a strong foundation of parasitology, immunology, cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, vector biology, and genetics, CTEGD's 24 faculty are from nine departments in five colleges/schools. Researchers and students work together on some of the most important causes of human suffering around the world, including malaria, schistosomiasis, African sleeping sickness, Chagas disease, cryptosporidiosis, toxoplasmosis, leishmaniasis, and filariasis.

Position Summary:

The Department of Infectious Diseases in the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Center for Tropical & Emerging Global Diseases at the University of Georgia invite applications for a full-time tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor. We seek an individual who will build a research program centered on parasitic diseases, including mechanistic aspects of parasite biology or interactions with hosts and vectors or translational research on parasitic diseases. The position includes a very competitive salary, excellent laboratory space and a generous start-up package. The successful candidate would build on the research strengths of the Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases, one of the world's leading centers for parasite research, and contribute to our NIH-funded training program. Teaching responsibilities in the Department of Infectious Diseases will be in our undergraduate, graduate or professional programs.


Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Evidence of productive postdoctoral training is preferred.

Applicants should demonstrate the ability for multidisciplinary collaborative research and a desire for continued collaboration with faculty in CVM, CTEGD and the University.
