Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Division Services Director for Architecture & Urbanism (A&U) - Places. This position is located in any Arcadis office located in the United States or Canada.

As the Services Director, you will transform services leading to improved efficiency and market differentiation. You will be responsible for leading long-term standardization and automation of the service line supported by maximum usage of Global Excellence Centers (GECs).

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will:


  • Work with GBA Division Operations Director and GBA Division Sales Director to determine strategic direction of service offerings
  • Implementation of Service Strategy with Division Business Unit Directors and Service leads
  • Works with Strategic Workforce planning team to develop plan for workforce of the future, capabilities and strategic resourcing needs
  • Work with Solutions Directors to support development of integrated propositions to market providing service expertise
  • Works with Technology to develop Platforms and systems
  • Work with QMS Leads to ensure that standard processes are formalized, and approved deviations are documented

You will also be responsible for:

Standardization of Service & Best Practice:


  • Set the standard for service delivery including governance and assurance across the business using standardized process and best practice in the form of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Continuous refinement and optimization of the service line processes
  • Scale best practice and standards across the Service Line within the Division community
  • Ensure Compliance to standards processes and procedures across the Service Line

Automation & Digitalization of Service:

  • Develop and deploy automated solutions to repeatable processes which improve efficiency and lower our cost of delivery for Service Line
  • Oversee the continued development and deployment of service based digital tools aligned to Enterprise principles including alignment with innovation framework
  • Optimize use of GECs, digital tools and data for the service line digital propositions
  • Develop digital service offerings to meet client need and create market differentiation
  • Enhance Client Experience of service offering through the development of digital tools & products

Service Excellence:

  • Develop Services which are high quality, recognized as the best through relentless focus on exceeding client expectations
  • Setting highest standards of Service quality, leading to client satisfaction and repeat business
  • Oversee the optimization in ways of working, delivery models and evolve usage of the GEC
  • Service Leadership in Projects with a relentless focus on Quality, Assurance & compliance

Capability & Development:

  • Set strategy and long-term requirements for skills and capabilities for service line
  • Build competence & skills in line with future Service & Client need
  • Foster and develop centers of excellence and technical expertise in Service Line Groups
  • Build pipeline of Technical leadership across service line
  • Development of additional skills in the GEC to support growth, efficiency, effectiveness and scale

Transformation & Change

  • Embed sustainability into the delivery of our services, add additional value to our clients
  • Establish Services line strategy within GBA Division and lead service transformation across Division
  • Implementation of the strategy across the service line
  • Cultivate service excellence culture across the service line and foster continuous improvement to leverage the benefits of global scale
  • Manage Service Line knowledge as a corporate asset improving accessibility to all Arcadians

Qualifications & Experience:

  • University Degree in Architecture or Masters Architecture required
  • 15 Plus Industry experienced as a practicing Architect required
  • Experience across all Architecture typologies considered an asset
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing services strategies to drive standardization and automation across multiple geographies.
  • Demonstrate significant leadership capability and the ability to inspire geographically dispersed teams around a common set of processes, procedures, systems and tools.
