Role description:

We are seeking a Water Resilience Planning Consultant to join our Planning, Policy and Funding Team. This position will be focused on development of funding and financing strategies and grant applications for disaster recovery, mitigation, and climate adaptation through local, state and federally funded programs. The position could be remote, with possible limited on-site requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in resiliency planning and funding across the country.

We are looking for dedicated, creative, and energetic candidate interested in tackling big challenges and developing sustainable and equitable solutions. You will drive the development of successful project and program scopes and budget, interact and work with clients, and identify opportunities to provide additional mitigation and resilience support to clients nationwide. You will also support other projects such as development of resilience and climate adaptation plans, review of proposed infrastructure projects, and overall program and grant management for public and private-sector clients.

The position is varied, and requires experience and interest in the fields of hazard mitigation, community resilience planning, grantee and subrecipient engagement, resilience funding strategies, program and grant management, project development and funding, or civil engineering/urban planning with a focus on climate resilience.

Role accountabilities:

What you will do:


  • Support multiple projects of varying sizes and scales, located in different geographies.
  • Develop and support the development of grant applications and funding strategies in collaboration with public and private entities.
  • Provide support to grant recipients and subrecipients for oversight, management and administration of federal funding.
  • Support grant proposal development and submission-preparing and organizing materials for proposals, and submitting and monitoring grant applications.
  • Prepare project reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including funding agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as required to maintain quality relationships with all our partners and clients.
  • Coordinate project activities, resources, and budget allocations to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Provide feedback suggestions on project management systems and methods to continuously improve performance and practices.
  • Work closely and build relationships with clients, stakeholders and other project partners.
  • Work closely and build relationships with Arcadis team to ensure successful delivery and implementation of additional large and small projects.

Who you are:

  • Interest or experience in federal funding programs for mitigation, climate change/climate adaptation, disaster recovery, planning and/or infrastructure.
  • Interested in working in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Outstanding organizational and deadline management skills.
  • Enjoy supporting multiple priorities and tasks in condensed or changing timeframes.
  • Steady, agile and adaptable while navigating foreseen and unforeseen obstacles.
  • Excited about learning the nuts and bolts of complex federal programs while keeping an eye on the big picture.
  • Highly motivated with a desire to pursue continual innovative improvements in processes.
  • A logical approach and ability to think through complex issues.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Geography, Architecture, Engineering or related field plus two or more years' relevant experience supporting medium to large-sized projects

OR

  • Master's Degree in Planning, Geography, Architecture, Engineering or related field

Skills and Preferred Qualifications

  • Functional experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook)
  • Strong writing, research, and data analysis skills.
  • Experience using ArcGIS

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $78,000.
