Job Description:

The clinical faculty position requires an earned master’s degree (by 6/30/24) in the fields of curriculum/instruction, educational leadership, or a closely related field from an accredited institution; at least three years full-time teaching experience as a PreK-12 classroom teacher, preferably in a public (urban) school setting; a commitment to excellence in teaching, including the ability to model exemplary methods for working with diverse populations of learners; the ability to use instructional technology in face to face, hybrid, and online learning environments; an inclination to collaborate extensively with other professionals in elementary and secondary education; and a willingness to participate as on-site clinical faculty for pre-teachers in the schools. Candidate is expected to participate in the department’s field-based program supervising the fieldwork component for students in various certification programs (EC-6, 4-8, and 7-12). Candidates will conduct field-based observations and coordinate students’ field experiences on-site. The teaching and supervising roles will be the equivalent of a 5/5 teaching load per academic year.

Duties:


  • Establishes and maintains relationships with campus personnel in partner school districts.

  • Teaches face-to-face meetings in support of fieldwork in which students are engaged.

  • Provides online support and coaching to students engaged in fieldwork experiences.

  • Observes students teaching lessons on a partner campus and provide verbal and written feedback.

  • Be available to observe students teaching lessons during normal school hours.

Requirements


  • An earned master’s degree in curriculum/instruction, educational leadership, or a closely related field.

  • Demonstrated ability and/or interest in teaching in a multi-ethnic, multicultural environment.

  • Experience in teaching literacy, especially in grades preK-12 (minimum of 3 years).

  • Current, valid Texas Educator certification(s).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in teaching in a university setting.

  • Experience in field-based teacher education programs.

  • Experience in creating/leading professional development activities for teachers.

  • Current, valid Texas Mid-Management or Principal’s certificate(s).

  • Administration experience in public schools.
