Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:




Position Summary: Oversee Analytical Chemistry Department



Responsibilities:



  • Oversees all technical aspects of production laboratory, case generation and R&D components

  • Manages R&D team and drives test development

  • Directs staff in the technical and logistical development, validation and operation of LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, and HPLC-fluorescence clinical tests

  • Interacts with clients and physicians regarding tests performed in the laboratory and describe the techniques used

  • Determines the most appropriate platform for clinical tests

  • Mentors scientists in the performance of clinical tests and instrumentation including drugs of abuse, steroids, metals and therapeutic drug monitoring applications

  • Coordinates with other departments on clinical test implementation

  • Coordinates the installation of laboratory instrumentation

  • Ensures the testing systems developed and used for each of the tests performed in the laboratory provide quality laboratory services

  • Ensures the laboratory is enrolled in an approved or alternate proficiency testing program for the testing performed

  • Ensures the establishment and maintenance of acceptable levels of analytical performance for each test system

  • Oversees the development of the laboratory's plans and programs in evaluation of long-range planning with regard to clinical tests and regulatory action




Education:

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry discipline required.




Experience:

  • 3-5 years of laboratory management

  • Ensure test development and implementation in operations is of the highest quality

  • Development/validation of bioanalytical tests by LC-MS/MS and HPLC

  • NYSDOH Certificate of Qualification holder




Skills:

  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.

  • The ability to coordinate multiple resources effectively.

  • The skill set of exuding leadership at all levels
