Job Description:

Create and execute strategies that facilitate high impact growth and achievement critical to overall AAG success and the Region plan. Responsibilities include: strategic business planning with programs impacting AWM/AAG nationally, both direct and influential leadership of advisors, leaders, and staff across the region and multiple branch offices; human resource leadership, financial management, staff effectiveness; peer leadership across the RDO role; contributes to successful achievement of regions Gross Dealer Concession (GDC) targets.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide direct and indirect leadership of staff roles in the region/branch offices. Drive field staff efficiencies while investing for growth. Recruit and select non-sales leaders and staff. Participate in the recruitment and selection of sales leaders. Develop, coordinate & access resources for training and developing all staff. Create and maintain a positive, collaborative work environment through regular 1:1 meetings, establishment of development plans and providing timely feedback/performance management. Ensure alignment of resources or resolution of issues for the region.


  • Develop/maintain strategies to support advisor/region business growth (T12, AUM, clients acquired), operational efficiencies and key initiative integration. Support FA headcount growth (EAR, EPA). Implement/execute region and corporate strategies through direct reporting relationships or through the influence of others. Develop and manage the annual budget for the region, monitoring and delivering regular reports on business results. Proactively influence RVP and sales leaders in effective management of region budget (eg., identify opportunities/trends, cost reductions).


  • Act as steering Committee liaison to help design, implement field/corporate business processes in support of key business objectives. Provide field perspective on goals, program design, field implementation plan working effectively with field and corporate partners driving results on a national scale. Represents RVP's voice and perspective on variety of key business initiatives.


  • Develop, maintain and ensure operational, risk and HR standards within the region. Promote and enforce appropriate brand standards, includes compliance and legal responsibilities. Participate in and cooperate with audit processes as arise and support offices in achieving audit-identified deficiencies.


  • Provide guidance on HR issues and provide leadership to staff and leaders. Act as HR liaison to corporate HR, raising issues/concerns/suggestions. Lead performance management process for region. Provide on-site leadership/consultation on the performance management process for sales leaders and advisors.


  • Provide mentorship and best practice sharing across the organization.



Required Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree or equivalent.


  • 10+ years of work experience.


  • Active Securities Industry Essential (SIE).


  • Series 7 or ability to obtain within 150 days.


  • Ability to manage operations across a multiple state territory, requiring 25-50% travel.


  • Strong understanding of broker-dealer business operations; possesses technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: advisor recruitment, risk mitigation, financial planning, client acquisition, marketing, practice management activities, or business operations.


  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.


  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills - including networking, negotiating, conflict resolution.


  • Demonstrated success in leading and influencing others without direct positional power.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to diversity and sensitivity to differences among people.


  • Ability to manage change and lead through making decisions, influencing others and taking risks/innovation.


  • Ability to work in Ameriprise Advisor Group (AAG) office.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Will consider candidates from any region, however, there is a strong preference for candidate to work in Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Ohio, or West Virginia.
