Position Summary:

The Associate Dean of the Jere W. Morehead Honors College serves as a valued member of the Honors leadership team, offering insight and ideas in partnership with colleagues to advance the strategic goals of the unit. As an advisor to the Dean, the Associate Dean will help set the academic direction for the College, working with UGA administrators, faculty and staff to ensure that the College's academic offerings, advising, and undergraduate research opportunities meet the highest standards of excellence. The Associate Dean will review and evaluate Honors-specific course offerings across campus and will work collaboratively with fellow associate deans and faculty in UGA's colleges and schools to ensure appropriate curricular offerings are available for Honors students. This individual will also provide oversight for Honors-based, specialized academic advising, supervising a team of four Honors advisors. This individual will also provide leadership for all activities of the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities (CURO), will supervise the CURO Program Coordinator, and will be charged to expand undergraduate research opportunities in the coming years in partnership with other units. Housed in the Honors College, CURO serves the entire undergraduate student body and has an established record of sustained, progressive, and faculty-mentored undergraduate research. The Associate Dean will monitor and regularly assess progress towards the strategic goals of the College and will assume other duties as assigned. This is a 12-month position, open to internal candidates and designed as an initial three-year commitment with the potential for extended renewal. Successful candidates may hold the rank of associate or full professor. This position reports directly to the Dean of the Morehead Honors College, who reports directly to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

The position requires excellent communication skills and a successful history of teaching, mentoring, and research.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide academic leadership and administrative support for the College and serve as advisor to its Dean, including reviewing and evaluating Honors-specific course offerings, working collaboratively with colleges and schools to ensure appropriate curricular offerings for Honors students; supervising the Honors advising team; monitoring, assessing, and reporting on progress towards the strategic goals of the College; and other administrative duties as assigned.
