About the College/Unit/Department:

Founded in 2005, the College of Public Health is located on the University of Georgia's Health Sciences Campus. The College consists of four departments and three specialized institutes. The department is located in newly renovated facilities that house faculty, staff and students. The College of Public Health is actively engaged in community outreach activities.

Position Summary:

The Office of Academic Affairs in the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia invites applications for a clinical assistant professor position. Appointment is for a full-time 12-month position which will primarily coordinate public health practice and career development initiatives of the Online Master of Public Health Program. The position is expected to begin August 1, 2024. Successful candidates will be expected to teach and advise fully online Master of Public Health students with a focus on professional development. They will also contribute to strengthening the MPH curriculum and contribute to college function by serving on committees.


Additional Requirements:

Required qualifications are at least three (3) years' experience teaching and/or administering online higher education courses.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Implement orientation sessions for students entering various APE phases, covering topics such as professional conduct, ethics, project management, and career readiness.

  • Proactively manage a caseload of advisees (with academic, applied practice experience/APE, and career advising) utilizing a suite of electronic advising tools to support students.

  • Implement policies and procedures for the applied practice program in accordance with the requirements of the MPH curriculum and accreditation standards.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for site supervisors, students, and faculty advisors, providing guidance and support throughout the APE.

  • Monitor student progress during the APE, conducting virtual site visits and evaluations as needed to ensure that learning objectives are being met and addressing any challenges that arise.

  • Serve as the instructor of record and teach APE-related online coursework.

  • Implement interactive online learning activities such as discussion forums, virtual group projects, live webinars, and multimedia presentations to foster student engagement and promote active participation in the online program.

  • Assist the Director of Online Programs to compile student data and draft annual reports for the College of Public Health's accrediting body (CEPH).

  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other activities to contribute to the overall mission and strategic goals of the Online MPH program.

  • Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in the field of public health practice education and incorporate relevant updates into program policies and procedures.
