The Institute for Homeland Security (IHS) at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) seeks a graduate or undergraduate student for a student worker position for the semester of spring 2024. The student worker will need to be an independent, self-starter with significant skills in programming and coding in Python including the use of pandas, an interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, and applying them to data collection and structuring. While not a requirement, students majoring or minoring in computer science with significant Python experience would be highly encouraged to apply.


The student would need to work well with others and take direction from IHS staff and sub-researchers/contractors in both in-person and remote settings. The work would primarily be conducted on the SHSU campus on an IHS computer.
