The University of Miami, Department of Pediatrics, is recruiting a Pediatric Cardiologist with special interest and experience in non-invasive and advanced cardiac imaging to join its academic and clinical program based at Holtz Children's Hospital within the Jackson Health System. This is a full-time faculty position with academic rank commensurate with clinical and academic experience and accomplishments. The faculty member will also see patients in both the outpatient and inpatient settings both at Jackson Main Hospital and at satellite UM Pediatric Cardiology Clinics, and is expected to participate actively in research and the training of medical students, residents, and fellows.


The UM/Holtz Children's Heart Center offers the full range of diagnostic and procedural services, including neonatal, pediatric, and adult congenial cardiac surgery, interventional catheterization, and invasive and noninvasive electrophysiology procedures. The Children's Heart Center operates programs in adult congenital cardiology, non-invasive and advanced cardiac imaging, fetal and neonatal care, and heart failure/mechanical circulatory support, all supported by cardiac anesthesiologists, cardiac critical care specialists, and cardiac-focused nurses and advanced practice providers.


The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine the highest-ranked private medical school for research in Florida and the first accredited medical school established in the state. With more than 1900 faculty, the Miller School is committed to cutting edge research in genetics, stem cell science, diabetes, cancer, public health and emerging fields such as precision medicine. With 140 faculty, Pediatrics is the second largest department on campus with the largest portfolio of grants and contracts. Inpatient pediatric care is primarily concentrated at the 250-bed Holtz Children's Hospital, ranked by USNWR, where the most comprehensive array of services for children among all children's hospitals in Florida is provided. The Department of Pediatrics also serves two other hospitals within the Jackson Health System, which is the third largest hospital system in the US. Outpatient cardiology activities occur at several sites throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties.


The Department of Pediatrics trains nearly 130 house staff per year, including 88 residents and six categorical cardiology fellows. Full research facilities are available at the Batchelor Children's Research Institute and the Batchelor Research Building, which houses the Pediatric Cardiology Division's basic science faculty researchers. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology hosts the biannual Frank Hernandez Lecture each year, in honor of Florida's first Pediatric Cardiologist.

Desired Qualifications:


  • MD/DO required

  • Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Florida

  • Exceptional clinical acumen and significant teaching experience are encouraged to apply
