CobbFendleyis seeking a Project Accountant to be located in our Houston, Texas office.






ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



This position is fully responsible for the project billing process in accordance with the established accounting standards and billing policy.




  • Effectively communicate with Project Managers regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services-related to billing.

  • Prepare draft and final invoice package containing invoices for all billable projects, including all applicable backup.

  • Assess and pursue opportunities for maximization of client billing

  • Research any unbilled issues to optimize the billing possibilities for the billing period.

  • Provide the accounts payables team member with advice on client billing, relative to consultant invoicing and reimbursable expenses. It is expected that the Biller maintain a continuous line of communication to clear any open issues.

  • Work with the cash receipts team member to reconcile variances that occur in the application of cash.

  • Set up new projects, make transfers of employee billable hours and/or expenses.

  • Recommend and implement agreed process improvements to the billing cycle.

  • Provide year-end support of auditor requirements, which may include research and reconcilement.

  • Perform additional assignments, as directed by the Accounting Manager.

  • Communicate and coordinate with the local offices.

  • Work with minimal supervision and deliver accurate work product that is error free.

  • Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.

  • Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.

  • Perform independent research and adapt changing priorities.

  • Work in a collaborative team environment and deliver accurate work product that is error free.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor’s Degree or some college courses in accounting or business preferred.

  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including experience in word processing, spreadsheets and accounting software.

  • Knowledge of Deltek Vision Software or other accounting platform, a plus.

  • A thorough knowledge of standard contract terms, including hourly, lumps sum, not-to-exceed and how they are applied in the billing process.

  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion.

  • Employ problem-solving skills and analysis, and report problems to the Accounting Supervisor, as necessary.

  • Strong service orientation.

  • Knowledge of the project structure in a client/consultant business environment.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.

  • Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations.

  • Repeated motions (i.e.-typing, reaching, bending, lifting and carrying).

  • Communication with other employees and clients.


ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS



  • Most work is performed in a professional office environment.

  • Extended use of electronic devices (i.e.-computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters and telephones).

  • Use of cutting tools and equipment (plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter, etc.).


EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK



  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST.

  • This is a partially remote position and compliance with the company’s “Remote Work Guidelines” is required.
