Wood currently has an opportunity for an HSSE Lead located in Mobile, Alabama, reporting to the Project Construction Manager and functional HSSES Senior Manager and leading project safety. This role has overall responsibility to provide positive leadership on HSSE issues and necessary guidance and support to ensure successful Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) management of the greenfield construction project. Key Responsibilities:

  • Continued development and monitoring of the implementation of the project HSSE management system
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to Wood project HSSE team and contractor leadership team
  • Provide expert advice and support to management in matters related to HSSE
  • Implement an assurance strategy to monitor compliance against the project HSSE Execution Plan and HSSE procedures
  • Assist and advise the Construction Manager and in meeting project and corporate HSSE objectives
  • Be aware of all current OSHA and project HSSE procedures to be operated within area and project scope
  • Establish a working relationship with Client and Contractor HSSE Representatives
  • Ensure an adequate interface with relevant stakeholders (such as contractors, Client, regulatory authorities, local communities) in matters related to HSSE
  • Examine HSSE trends and propose actions to prevent recurrence of incidents, accidents, and near-misses
  • Implementing and compliance with Wood and OSHA training requirements
  • Managing leading, lagging indicators and assurance activities
  • Provide HSSE support, guidance and leadership to contractor management, supervision and craft
  • Support incident reporting and investigations
  • 8+ years HSE experience
  • Formal education and training in Occupational Health, Safety, Environment
  • Knowledge of HSE standards and legal requirements
  • Experience of working in and overseeing an advanced HSE Management system environment
  • Supervisory or direct management experience
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office
  • Excellent communication skills - bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Confident self-starter who can work independently
  • Incident investigation training and experience
  • Experience in facilities, pipeline, or alternative energy construction projects
  • Sound knowledge and experience in emergency response, risk management, and behavioral based safety
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA Regulations
