TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Technician II to join our team in Ft Myers, Florida.
Summary: Performs on-site or in-house servicing, repair and/or installation of company product(s) for FDOT in District 1. This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; and pole and foundation installation. Determines most effective means to install equipment to maximize efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Installation, preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment to include PC based computers, video surveillance equipment, network communications equipment, and/or radio equipment.
Completes reports, logs and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures and local practices.
Responds to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within an acceptable time frame.
Diagnoses and repairs hardware, software, and system issues.
Reports the technical status of the system with accuracy and completeness.
Restores equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.
Module or PC Board swap out.
Isolation of faults in units or components.
Field test of units or components.
Maintenance of spare equipment and parts following guidelines set forth to do so.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
At least 3-years of cable management and termination experience
In depth knowledge of electronics and RF theory
Ability to install, repair and maintain RF network communications
Ability to communicate effectively to perform work
MS Office experience (Excel, Teams, Word, Outlook)
Basic computer networking skills
Must successfully complete required background/drug screening that TransCore initiates as part of the hiring process; additionally, when required by project, must successfully complete a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background screen.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record; driving is required for the position including the ability to drive at night.
Should have a demonstrated awareness of the safety aspects of a field technician
Must be able to walk long distances per
Ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds occasionally
Occasionally driving for 10- 12 hours a day with excessive driving to remote locations along interstate roads may be required.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
