Our Georgia planning team offers thoughtful, forward-thinking, and practical expertise in a range of practice areas, including multimodal and active transportation, freight planning, community planning, transportation safety, and more. The successful candidate will play a key role in a creative and dynamic team of planners and engineers supporting multimodal planning, analyzing complex transportation data, preparing studies and technical reports, and creatively and effectively communicating information to a wide range of audiences.

Responsibilities:


  • Support development of transportation planning and engineering reports, plans, and studies with a primary focus on research, data collection, field assessment, data analysis, mapping, writing and editing.
  • Conduct extensive research and analysis using a variety of data sources and methods.
  • Identify issues, needs, and opportunities based on observation, research, and data analysis.
  • Offer and develop creative, yet practical solutions to a variety of complex problems, including recommendations, strategies, actions consistent with community goals, best practices, and applicable regulations.
  • Prepare formal and technical reports, working papers, and professional correspondence.
  • Prepare information (i.e. project fact sheets, display boards, slides, online platforms, etc.) to explain projects clearly and succinctly to and gather input from clients, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Work and communicate effectively with a broad range of team members, clients, review agencies, and others as appropriate for a range of project types.
  • Manage work tasks across multiple simultaneous projects, coordinating among team members, clients, and external consultants.
  • Support and participate in public meetings and presentations.
  • Participate in a range of challenging projects including multimodal transportation plans, corridor studies, small area plans, comprehensive plans, feasibility studies, and alternative analyses.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in city/regional/urban planning or closely related field.
  • Two or more years of applicable work experience.
  • Working in-depth knowledge of planning processes and principles.
  • Ability to obtain AICP within the next few years.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to rigorous quality control.
  • Ability to research, learn, and apply innovative solutions and best practices in the industry.
  • Strong organizational, project, and time management skills, including working on multiple tasks or projects concurrently.
  • Ability to be proactive in determining the necessary steps to meet task objectives and perform assigned duties.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong GIS experience, including data analysis and presentation of maps and other figures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally and comfortably with a variety of personalities and communication styles.
  • Proficiency and skill in Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, InDesign, online survey or other public engagement tools, and other graphical and/or statistical software packages.
