Job Summary

As a Senior Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining secure systems. You will work closely with a cross-functional IT team, to ensure that systems and networks are secure, compliant with applicable regulations, and protected against unauthorized access and other security risks. You will be responsible for identifying vulnerabilities, as well as developing and implementing security solutions to mitigate risks. You will also be involved in incident response, security monitoring, and security policy development

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities


  • Design, implement, and maintain secure systems, including servers, intrusion detection/prevention systems, other security devices, and security software.
  • Assist in performing vulnerability assessments and risk assessments to identify and prioritize potential security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement security measures, policies, and procedures to protect systems and networks against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security incidents.
  • Monitor and analyze security logs and events and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
  • Assist in conducting security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, industry best practices, and organizational security policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that security requirements are incorporated into system and network design, development, and implementation processes.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to IT and network engineering teams to ensure that security controls are effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Stay updated on the latest security threats, technologies, and industry trends, and provide recommendations for improving security posture.
  • Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and recovery efforts, as needed.
Qualifications

Educational and Experience Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or other security certifications.
  • Microsoft 365 Certification: Enterprise Administrator Expert
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Microsoft 365 Engineer or Administrator.
  • 4+ years of Microsoft 365 administration experience for an organization of 800 end users or more.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in system security engineering and administration.
  • Hands-on experience with security technologies such as, IDS/IPS, SIEM, antivirus, and vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Experience with risk assessment and incident response methodologies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Proficient in Microsoft Intune software administration (software packaging, deployments, patching), device management/deployment via Autopilot, PowerShell, Entra Identity.
  • Strong knowledge of security principles, best practices, and industry standards, such as NIST, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and CIS Critical Security Controls.
  • Familiarity with security-related regulations, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex issues related to Microsoft 365 deployments and configurations.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 security features, data protection, compliance requirements, and ability to implement and enforce security best practices.
  • Knowledge of identity and access management concepts in the context of Microsoft 365.
  • Strong background and expertise in Microsoft 365 technologies, including Exchange, Purview, PowerBI, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Power Platform, and related services.
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 architecture, administration, and configuration.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
