Description: Executes the agenda of the maintenance department, as well as generating and executing the plant's philosophy of operation.
Direct supervision of maintenance department. Night and weekend call-ins, away from an established schedule, must be considered a necessity and priority of the position.
Responsibility of department training, (coaching, critiquing, skills assessment, etc.) and accountability (follow-up, root cause analysis, disciplinary action,
etc.) will fall within the scope of this position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ensures equipment uptime objectives are met.
Direct the department's personnel resources within the operational philosophy of the plant.
Develops and maintains department's personnel labor schedule.
Fills in for above department's positions where necessary.
Assigns and supervises daily work for maintenance department based on plant and department priorities, under the advisement of the senior plant management.
Maintains organization of shop and adequate inventory of critical and key components.
Participates in the justification to this maintenance inventory.
Maximizes the skills and implementation of department personnel to reduce dependency on outside services.
Develops and manages competent outside service contacts where necessary.
Provides technical support for the production department with process enhancement issues.
Projects and monitors crewing needs.
Creates and maintains an environment of continuous improvement.
Ensures employees understand and exercise Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
Establishes, promotes and maintains safety standards, utilizing employee meetings, Safety Committee and effective training.
Provides leadership / supervision in planning and execution of in-house maintenance projects.
Instills a work ethic that compliments and maximizes the plant's philosophy of operation.
Participates in specifying replacement maintenance parts, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation components.
Ensures calibration of all electric and electronic devices is being performed in accordance with plant protocol, using department and outside resources.
Ensures calibration of all pneumatically controlled devices is being performed in accordance with plant protocol, using department and outside resources.
Performs monthly fire extinguisher inspections and schedules annual service inspections.
Provides domestic replacement components that are compatible with OEM units where practical.
Oversees and advises troubleshooting and programming of PLC's. Provides direct involvement when necessary.
Oversees and advises troubleshooting and programming of VFD's.
Provides direct involvement when necessary. Maintains documentation of all maintenance systems.
Maintains power distribution system using department and outside resources.
Maintains pneumatic delivery system.
Attains full understanding of operation and ensures maintenance of all HVAC equipment.
