Job Description:

The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening for an Analyst in the Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau (IPSV) of the Special Victims Division. IPSV handles all felony sexual assault prosecutions in Manhattan where the victims are 14 years or older and cases involving Intimate Partner Violence. The Bureau's experienced, specially trained prosecutors strive to bring the strongest prosecutions for victims of these heinous crimes. In addition, IPSV also handles unlawful surveillance prosecutions and prosecutions for violations of sexual offender registration laws. In this position, the Analyst will provide a wide range of support to the Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) prosecuting these crimes.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Assist ADAs in all aspects of investigations and trials.
  • Take notes on victim and witness interviews and proffers with defendants in IPSV cases.
  • Investigate cases: generate subpoenas; obtain evidence; review and analyze documents; conduct searches of online databases for probative information.
  • Compile and analyze discovery in cases.
  • Track, centralize, and organize unit data, records, and statistics.
  • Draft correspondence and legal documents.
  • Prepare exhibits and evidence for Grand Jury and trial.
  • Perform related administrative and clerical tasks.


In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, all candidates must possess the following:

  • Level 1 - bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
  • Level 2 - bachelor's degree from an accredited college and one (1) year of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent.
  • Level 3 - bachelor's degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent.


Preferred Requirements/Skills:

  • Fluency in a foreign language (particularly Spanish, Russian, Mandarin or Cantonese) is helpful though not necessary.
  • Excellent organization, communication, writing, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to learn, update and edit existing proprietary applications and quickly learn and use various computer systems.
  • Ability to work independently with frequent interruptions, manage deadlines, keep track of ongoing assignments, and adapt to changes in workflow.
  • Comfort working in a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff, court representatives, law enforcement representatives and witnesses.

Additional Information:

  • Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least 1 year in their current position and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
  • Looking for candidates that could commit to one (1) year internally to the hiring unit and two (2) years for external hires.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.


Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to \"1\" above.

Hours/Shift:

  • Monday - Friday, from 9 am - 5 pm.
