Leads the overall strategic planning efforts for the location, which include cost reduction initiatives, capital planning and resources, as well as in other areas
Ensures that the facility provides the highest quality products produced in the most efficient manner within budgeted costs. Implements systems to effectively manage production schedules properly supporting the business
Monitors and analyzes key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement (daily/weekly/monthly)
Heads the effort and drives Lean Manufacturing tools/techniques to foster continuous improvement and maximize productivity within the facility
Profit & Loss oversight of the facility
Acts proactively regarding problem resolution
Manages the overall safety, quality, scheduling, production, shipping, maintenance, and other administrative functions for the facility
Leads the effort in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient operation by working within all company guidelines and local/state/federal regulations
Strives to improve the plant's safety accident record year over year by creating a positive safety culture and environment for all employees
Conducts weekly safety walks of the facility
Trains, develops, and motivates staff in an effort to optimize the workforce. Delivers performance reviews and any feedback to the team as needed
Conducts weekly staff meetings which focus on key operative measurements
Schedules and conducts plant communication meetings for all employees
Interfaces with customers and suppliers, visiting both as necessary
Works to establish and promote positive community relationships
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, Operations, or Business Management
Proven experience (7+ years) and a record of successes as a Plant Manager in a high-speed manufacturing environment. Experience with metal processing/metal forming strongly preferred
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
Experience in a commercial role with direct customer contact
Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification a plus
Solid understanding of production planning, quality control, and supply chain management processes, with the demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement process improvements
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and inspire a diverse team
Experience managing to the ISO or equivalent quality standards
Experience implementing and/or managing to an Operating System (example: Toyota Production Systems)
