Job Description:

Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Radiology is searching for full-time diagnostic imaging physics faculty members at any rank. The appointees will have clinical responsibilities including overseeing the QA/QC program in all diagnostic imaging modalities with an emphasis on nuclear medicine with respect to regulatory compliance, ACR accreditation requirements, patient safety, image processing, and continuous image quality improvement in imaging protocols, as well as consultations in equipment purchase decisions, acceptance testing, shielding design, and site planning. The appointees are required to fulfill the qualified medical physicist's role in the department's radiopharmaceutical therapy program and work closely with the radiation safety office. Additional responsibilities include the teaching of clinical diagnostic medical physics residents, radiology residents, medical physics graduate students, and technologists.

We especially welcome applicants with a strong commitment to the University of Chicago's mission of clinical care, education, and research. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

There will be opportunities available for research collaborations with radiology faculty as well as other clinical and basic science departments throughout the campus. Of particular note, we have recently established a state-of-the-art medical cyclotron, the only one in the region, and so there will be significant opportunities for involvement with our rapidly expanding nuclear-molecular imaging program. A more complete overview of the department is available at http://radiology.uchicago.edu/.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a PhD in medical physics or related discipline, 2) be ABR certified or eligible in diagnostic medical physics or nuclear medical physics or ABSNM certified in nuclear medicine physics. Dual-board certification in both diagnostic medical physics and nuclear medicine physics is preferred.

To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago's Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/126959. Applicants must upload a CV including bibliography and cover letter. Review of applications ends when the positions are filled.
