Job Description:

The Department of Administrative Services is seeking an energetic and thoughtful leader with a passion for public service to lead Nebraska's Risk Management function. Administrative Services provides centralized business services to State government agencies. As the Risk Management Division leader, you'll be responsible for managing the State's insurance portfolio for the breadth of the State's operations and assets. Acting as a subject matter expert in all areas of risk management, you'll provide executive decision makers with recommendations to reduce financial losses arising from insurance claims and worker's compensation claims. Partnering with State agencies, you'll oversee claims investigations and make recommendations to the State Claims Board for claims adjudication. Additionally, as the State's Safety Officer, you will work closely with the Statewide Safety Committee to oversee the State's workplace safety program and act as an evangelist for safe workplace practices. This is an appointed position serving at the pleasure of the DAS Director. This is a discretionary non classified position- AT WILL EMPLOYMENT. Individuals transferred or hired to fill discretionary non classified positions are 'at will' employees. 'At will,' for purposes of the discretionary non classified positions, is defined as serving at the pleasure of the appointing authority not subject to the Rules and Regulations of the Classified Personnel System.


Salary range is $100,000 - $125,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements:



PREFERRED: Juris Doctor in a related field and five years of experience related to the essential functions of the position to include leadership and/or managerial experience. Any equivalent education and/or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the preferred qualifications of the position.
