To support this growth, we have an immediate opening for a Lead Operator for the Greasezilla Biofuel Recovery System located and operated at the Sunshine WWTP in Groveland, Florida.The City of Groveland is one of the most rapidly growing cities in Florida, known as 'The City of Natural Charm and Unlimited Possibilities'. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance and management, administrative duties, and maintaining close client communications. You will oversee additional part-time and / or full-time support staff in the daily operations and maintenance of the Grease Recovery System, coordinate and collaborate with the Groveland WWTP Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager and perform customer service-related duties. What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?


  • Day-to-day operations, maintenance, and management of the Grease Recovery (waste-to-energy) facility.

  • Implementation and management of an innovative predictive maintenance management program.

  • Administration and implementation of all routine and capital repair and replacement projects.

  • Emergency response for process upsets, equipment failures, force majeure events, all alarm events etc.

  • Provision of requested / required operations and compliance reporting to municipality and W&C WWTP Management Team.

  • Management and oversight of a small Capital Improvement Plan.

  • Collaborate with engineers on future planning and ongoing construction administration of other Greasezilla projects throughout the W&C Operations Network.

  • Attend council meetings and present project update presentations.

  • Promote and develop staff members.

In this role, you will play an active role in the coordination and communication with assigned staff, client representatives, contractors, and W&C WWTP Project Managers/Area Managers. You will also work closely with all parties to ensure effective system operation and optimization. You will be responsible for performing hands-on operations, maintenance, and producing all required reports, as well as coordinating the on-going daily operation of the Grease Recover System to include accommodating the tipping schedules of haulers, grease burn ("cook") cycles, management of grease EQ tank inventory, waste stream management and some process control laboratory analyses.

Schedule:

There will be flexibility as to operational hours, however, initially the projected hours will 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday. Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of this position. Availability for standby duty and the ability to be "on-call," working evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Response to emergency events and alarm callouts as scheduled and required.

What you will need to succeed


  • Possess (or be able to obtain) a valid State of Florida Driver's License

  • Ability to make sound decisions in process control and follow instructions, as well as follow safety procedures.

  • 5 to 10 years' experience in managing industrial or municipal wastewater facilities, grease recovery systems and/or waste to energy facilities.

  • Experience overseeing an annual budget of $500K or more.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent Operational and Maintenance capabilities.

  • The opportunity to become more versatile and even more technically proficient. We cross-train to improve facility operations, job satisfaction, and job security.

  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.


Preferred, but not required :
  • Possess a valid State of Florida Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators license.
