Woodard & Curran has a phenomenal opportunity to join our skilled treatment team in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Partnering with our Area Manager, Plant Manager, or Assistant Plant Manager, the ideal candidate will manage the daily operations of the affected facility, including, with supervision, managing the scope, schedule, and budget of the facility in accordance with our contract requirements.

What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?

We are seeking a Lead Operator with a minimum Massachusetts Grade 5 wastewater certification. In this role you will be very involved with the day-to-day operations, laboratory, maintenance, and management, process control and other administrative duties.

Typical responsibilities include:

The Lead Operator will play an active role in the coordination and communication with assigned staff, client representatives, and contractors. You will work closely with all parties to ensure effective system operation and optimization. You will also be responsible for performing hands-on work and producing required reports, and assist with the coordination of the on-going daily operations at the Sequential Batch Reactor Wastewater Treatment Facility.

In this role, you will schedule, coordinate, direct, and supervise the daily operations of the plant with a focus on the laboratory, ensuring that subordinate employees follow established administrative, safety, operating, and maintenance policies. You will supervise the operations department to ensure that work is performed in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures. Our operators participate in an "on call" rotation for plant coverage outside of normal workday hours and shifts, which may include weekends. In addition, operators will be required to respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed.

What will you need to succeed?


  • Valid Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Plant Grade 5 Certification

  • Applicant must possess a valid Massachusetts Driver's License.

  • Proficiency with computers (Excel, Word, HACH WIMS, etc.), including report generation and SCADA.

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in wastewater treatment facility operator and maintenance.

  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
