GPIseeks a Senior Structural Engineer familiar with the design of bridges for NYSDOT and other local agencies to join our team in Albany, NY. GPIhas exciting and complex projects upcoming and is looking for senior expertise in bridge design to help supplement and guide the talent of our existing staff. We have multiple-span bridges, large-span bridges, and signature structure designs in various stages of development and design. We have new design, rehabilitation, preservation, and repair projects, which include structural design and detailing of bridges, walls, and even dams.

Responsibilities:



  • Prepare and/or check detailed design calculations for rehabilitation or replacement bridge and bridge-culvert projects, or other structural components.

  • Lead and/or direct junior level staff in data collection such as performing structural inspections.

  • Develop technical design reports and recommendations and/or review reports and recommendations prepared by others.

  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data for the purposes of planning of project-specific work.

  • Prepare and/or review of civil/structural drawings, construction specifications, development of engineering documents, and development of construction cost estimates.

  • Perform other related duties as needed.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or Structural Engineering (Master's Degree a plus)

  • Active NY State Professional Engineer's License

  • 7+ Years of experience working in Bridge Design and Construction

  • Knowledge of structural design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete for transportation structures (bridges and retaining walls).

  • Working knowledge of LRFD Bridge Design Codes and NYS bridge Manual. Knowledge of NYS Local Projects Manual and the Locally Administered Federal Aid Process a plus.

  • Proficiency in current industry software including but not limited to, MicroStation, Win-DASH, Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails, and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members.




Requirements



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration

  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language

  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members

  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)

  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
