Ledgent Finance & Accounting is currently seeking a Medical Biller & AR Representative for one of our clients that is within a 25 minute commute of Westport, CT. A candidate with prior medical billing experience is a huge plus, but this position is also open to entry-level finance & accounting candidates with strong customer service experience, ideally for healthcare and healthcare-adjacent industries. This is a temporary-to-hire position with a pay rate that depends upon experience, but starts at $21/hour for candidates without prior medical billing. Responsibilities:
Review medical bills and client accounts for coverages
Prepare and process electronic insurance claims
Follow-up on all claims to completion, as well as any denials
Collect self-payments from clients
Internal & external communication and coordination with regard to billings & claims
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Associate degree required
Prior experience in customer service, required
Prior healthcare or healthcare-adjacent industry experience, required
Prior billing & collections experience, preferred
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Ability to learn new tasks and software systems
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
