Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of biomedical informatics methods development and applications. Relevant areas include bioinformatics, translational bioinformatics, clinical informatics, clinical research informatics, consumer health informatics, and public health informatics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. 


Teaching responsibilities may include participation in biomedical informatics and computational biology PhD and MS training programs, as well as teaching informatics and data science courses in biomedical graduate programs. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring.


Clinical responsibilities may include activities in the faculty member's clinical specialty (if relevant).


Research or scholarship responsibilities may include variations based upon the faculty track. Faculty on the Clinician Educator track typically participate in research as co-investigators. Opportunities also exist to establish oneself as a research leader in their area of specialization.

The 10 primary faculty in the Division of Informatics have strengths that span the development, evaluation, and application of cutting-edge informatics methods, approaches, and software that impact the biomedical sciences and healthcare. The Informatics Division is part of a large department, with dozens of highly collaborative faculty that specialize in biostatistics and epidemiology. The successful candidate can also become a member of the Institute for Biomedical Informatics (IBI). Established in 2015 to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, the IBI comprises 70+ laboratories with a wide range of biomedical and clinical research focuses.
