Summary

This new position will report to the Assistant Controller but will interact frequently with the Controller, Chief Financial Officer and the C-Suite at Sparus Holdings. We are looking for a qualified and experienced general ledger accountant to join our finance team. You will be in charge of maintaining and reconciling the general ledger, preparing financial statements and reports, and supporting the audit and tax processes. You will also collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to provide accurate and timely financial information.

To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, a CPA certification or CPA candidate, and at least five years of experience in corporate accounting or a similar role. You should also have an excellent knowledge of accounting principles and standards, as well as proficiency with an ERP System and Microsoft Office. You should be detail-oriented, analytical, and organized, with strong communication and teamwork skills.

General Ledger Accountant - Responsibilities:

  • Record and post journal entries, adjusting entries, and accruals to the general ledger
  • Reconcile and analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Support the internal and external audit and tax processes
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to provide financial information and analysis
  • Identify and resolve accounting issues and discrepancies
  • Monitor and maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
  • Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts
  • Assist with daily cash flow report
  • Perform other accounting duties and projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA certification or ability to obtain CPA within the first year of employment
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and standards
  • Strong proficiency in ERP software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

Work Schedule

This position will have a hybrid work schedule and will be in office three days per week after the initial training period.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience but starts at $85K/year and up.
