Department of Radiation Oncology




UM Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical




FLSA Status: Exempt




Supervisor's Title: Department Chair



The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has positions for American Board of Radiology board eligible/certified candidates. The candidates are expected to be engaged in clinical, research, teaching, and administrative activities.


The department covers five sites of service and has a strong team approach and patient centric culture. The physician will have a key role in specific disease site multidisciplinary teams, typically involving a major and minor site of specialization, as directed by the Chair and Clinical Division Chief. The candidates will be responsible for the coordination of care with other services and relevant sites in the UHealth network. Faculty disease site preferences are considered in such assignments.


Faculty members are expected to be familiar with and comply with department procedures and policies, and have an active role in Quality Improvement activities for the department. Faculty members are also expected to be familiar with the University Faculty Manual, which is available online.


The candidate will participate in department academic and educational activities, such as morning teaching conferences, morbidity and mortality conference, weekly new patient conference, and departmental and cancer center retreats. Responsibilities also include active participation in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Faculty are expected to give at least one department grand rounds yearly and to lecture the residents twice during the year.


Physician scientists may benefit from start-up support and have protected time for research activities. Such candidates will be expected to report progress of their research projects on a regular basis.
