Qualifications

RS&H is seeking a Transportation Planning Associate I to join our Transportation Group in our Charlotte office!

Job Summary:

This position performs basic transportation planning activities including basic technical analysis and documentation requiring the application of standard principles and techniques utilized by the profession.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs routine assignments including compiling data and analysis, researching and assisting in the preparation of reports, studies, and supporting tables, charts, and graphics.
  • Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment.
  • Completes basic tasks associated with transportation planning projects under the direction of leadership. Assists with desktop research and collection of data following established guidelines and standards.
  • May assist with writing draft sections for plans or other deliverables and/or analyze and present initial findings to senior staff for guidance and feedback.
  • Develops an understanding of all discipline roles within a multidiscipline project team environment.
  • Assists with planning projects under the guidance of senior colleagues. This may include performing regulatory or past study research, creating spreadsheets, completing GIS analysis/maps, and compiling and writing reports and other documents.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and within scope of practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in city and regional planning or related field from an accredited program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of transportation planning fundamentals and familiarity with ArcGIS.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Must possess solid oral and written communications skills.
  • Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in city and regional planning or related field.
