Job Summary

The Director of Undergraduate Affairs is part of the Student Affairs team and provides leadership and strategic direction for the administration and student experience of the undergraduate degrees.



Duties & Responsibilities




Administration (40%):


  • Oversee the success of iSchool undergraduate degrees while working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to manage the success of the programs.

  • Collaborate with the iSchool Undergraduate Faculty Program Director and Academic Affairs around course offerings and curriculum development.

  • Work closely with all stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain iSchool Undergraduate policies and procedures.

  • Act as a liaison to campus and other university departments, serving on committees within the school and throughout campus, such as partnering on diversity programs.

  • Supervise undergraduate advising staff and support their professional development.

  • Oversee the iSchool's participation in students abroad.


Advising (40%):

  • Oversee and provide academic advising and mentoring of BSIS and BSIS+DS students.

  • Supervise programs and services for all iSchool undergraduate students, including those on probation and those in need of additional support and attention.

  • Monitor students' progress towards their degree and certifying graduation requirements, working with records and education data analyst staff as needed.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with Academic Affairs staff to enhance the student experience.

  • Model effective, empathetic, and equitable relationships with all stakeholders.


Admissions and Recruitment (20%):

  • Coordinate with stakeholders including the iSchool Admissions and Recruitment team to create admissions targets and plan strategies to recruit, admit, and yield a diverse freshman and transfer class.

  • Work with faculty to articulate recruitment profiles for prospective students.

  • Process course transfer requests working with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and college offices.

  • Process intercollegiate transfers (ICT) into the School of Information Sciences.


Additional Physical Demands

Work is performed in a typical office environment.



Minimum Qualifications



Master's Degree in Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Student Services, or related field. A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated successful experience in at least 2 of the following areas: undergraduate admissions, student affairs, study abroad, and undergraduate advising. Demonstrated successful experience working in and contributing to a collaborative work environment.



Preferred Qualifications



Project management experience; knowledge of undergraduate student policies and procedures; experience managing the operational and student services of an undergraduate degree program.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; Exceptional organizational skills; Experience working collaboratively


Appointment Information


This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 6/3/2024. Salary is commensurate with experience. The minimum salary is $75,000, We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements
