Job Summary




  • Meets, assesses, guides, supports, and serves as an advocate for students charged with violations to the IU Code of Conduct including Title IX cases.
  • Works under careful supervision of the Assistant Director.
  • Manages student conduct cases and ensure accurate student case records.
  • Provides direct and indirect client services to students and their families, including students who have been charged in Title IX/Sexual Misconduct Respondent cases.
  • Collaborates and consults with the Assistant Director to assess best practices and address institutional issues that may be impacting populations of students and legally mandated guidelines.
  • Assists students in returning after a suspension.
  • Attends Student Advocates Office and/or Conduct team meetings, trainings, and orientations.
  • Participates in and/or attends job related professional development or meetings, including diversity/inclusion training, FERPA, Title IX, etc.
  • Provides support when needed for SAO Director, Associate Director, and Client Services Assistant.

EDUCATION



Required



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field


Preferred



  • Master's degree in social work, higher education, or counseling

WORK EXPERIENCE



Preferred



  • Experience working with IU students

  • Professional experience working in crisis intervention

SKILLS



Required



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Ability to work confidently with numbers and computer case management in the preparation of documents and reports

  • Ability to thrive in fast paced environment that manages crisis intervention, de-escalation of conflict, assesses threat

  • Possesses excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills, attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to follow confidentiality protocols

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people including retiree populations, in a knowledgeable, respectful, and pleasant manner

  • Ability to diffuse stressful situations

  • Ability to listen non-judgmentally and with compassionate care as this position assists students experiencing conduct, academic, financial, mental, and physical health obstacles




Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$18.00 per hour

Approximately 20 hours per week
