Senior Massage Therapist, Integrative Medicine at UC HEALTH LLC

Job Description:

Provide therapeutic massage services to patients in Integrative Medicine across UC Health with the goals of alleviating stress, reducing pain and discomfort associated with headache, back, shoulder, neck and other pain as well as optimizing the patient's wellness. This role will also help with the development and growth of the division from a leadership standpoint to ensure all patient needs and compliance needs are met and maintained.


  • Associate Degree - Minimum Required
    Bachelors Degree - Preferred Degree
  • Certification or licensure as a Massage Therapist in OH.
  • Minimum Required: 2 Years equivalent experience.
    Preferred: 5-10 Years equivalent experience.
PATIENT POPULATION

  • Engages in population-appropriate communication.
  • Knows growth and development milestones and tasks.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/families regarding treatment.
  • Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
  • Interprets population-related data and plans care appropriately.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication, or operates equipment safely.
  • Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.

Job Function: Leadership Responsibilities

  • Maintain and review policies to ensure service is in alignment with the scope of practice and the organization's and accrediting association's requirements.
  • Conducts massage therapist competencies and facilitates training of therapists.
  • Collaborate with supervisor to resolve patient issues/complaints/etc.
  • Work with leadership to ensure the team is adhering to quality, safety, and service requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to identify and track patient outcomes.

Job Function: Evaluation

  • Evaluate patients with varied diagnoses to determine the appropriateness of massage therapy services; establish short and long-term goals with patient and family- if appropriate; and develop an individualized treatment plan for the patient.

Job Function: Massage Therapy

  • Administers massage therapy treatment to address patient's primary health condition; utilizes appropriate techniques and other modalities to meet patient's specific needs and achieve therapy goals; observes progress, compliance with treatment plan, and/or changes in patient's condition and modifies treatment plan accordingly.

Job Function: Patient Education

  • Educates patient and family, if appropriate, on a prescribed treatment plan to meet goals; provides instruction for at-home therapy activities as needed.

Job Function: Collaboration

  • Communicates and collaborates with referring physicians and relevant healthcare providers on patient's treatment plans and goals.
  • Promote massage therapy services and benefits to internal and external entities.

Job Function: Documentation

  • Documents patient's preliminary evaluation, specific methods and treatment utilized, recommended treatment plan and goals as well as adherence to prescribed care plan.
  • Ensures documentation is by the organization's and accrediting association's requirements.

Job Function: Patient Inquiries

  • Fielding patient inquiries, scheduling appointments, and following up with appropriate parties as needed.
