The Certified Nursing Assistant provides care to patients under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
1. Assists in the collection of assessment data, such as vital signs and intake/output. Subjective and objective data are reported to Team Leader and/or Charge Nurse.
2. Provides care that meets the patient's activities of daily living, such as bathing, feeding, repositioning, and ambulating, for patients of all ages.
3. Collects laboratory specimens and answers call lights.
4. Creates and maintains a comfortable and safe environment for patients, families, and visitors.
5. Complies with PMHC Code of Conduct.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Directly responsible to the Nursing Leader.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The level of risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens is Classification I, as outlined in the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
1. High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) 2. Successful completion of an approved CNA course.
COMPETENCIES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
1. Licensed as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Nebraska. 2. Current BLS certification.
