Job Description:

Food Program Coordinator and Support Teacher needed at Proto-tykes Daycare in Sullivan, IL.
The food program coordinator manages the daily operations of the kitchen, as well as other housekeeping duties throughout the center.
Food Program Coordinator
Manages the daily operation of the kitchen including: preparing AM snack, lunch, and PM snack for the classrooms, dish washing, laundry washing, and other housekeeping duties listed on the attached daily task sheetGrocery store shopping for needed food and supplies on a weekly basisWorks with administrator to take inventory of food supply in preparation for the food orderTransports food from the basement to the kitchenCleans microwaves & fridges in kitchen and classrooms monthlyMaintains the common areas of the center and the hall bathrooms
Support Teacher
Forms supportive relationships with the children, families, and fellow staff members, center wideSupports routines in the classrooms by ensuring they are carried out in a prompt, hygienic, and individually respectful mannerWhen working directly with children, ensures childrens safety through constant supervisionAssists the Primary Teachers in keeping the classrooms clean and tidyRemains alert to center wide safety concerns and maintenance needsReports to the Administrator or proper AF Supervisors, safety concerns and maintenance needsWorks center wide, in accordance with DCFS regulationsRegularly practices fire and emergency drills in the support role assignedProhibits the use of corporal punishmentCreates a positive environment for children, families, and team matesProvides guidance based on the values of love, trust, and respect, with the goal of self-disciplineEncourages children and team mates to freely express their needs and capabilitiesEnsures families receive respectful communication when it is delegated to them to do so in the absence of the Primary TeacherCommunicates to the Education Coordinator or Administrator any concerns about children or familiesParticipates in staff meetings, a minimum of 24 hours of training, annually, and completes required professional readingWorks as a member of the Proto-Tykes team to ensure a high standard of quality, center wide
The daily tasks include:
Preparing healthy meals for the children, collecting dirty dishes from the classrooms, washing the dishes and returning the dishes to the appropriate classrooms.Collecting laundry and washing and returning, and keeping up on the daily cleaning of the kitchen.The food program coordinator acts as a support teacher in the morning, and fill in for teachers who are leaving the classroom at the end of each day.This staff member works closely with the Administrator to provide healthy meals that are in compliance with DCFS standards.The Food Program Coordinator also complies with job requirements specified in the Support Teacher job description meeting the teacher qualifications needed to work with a group of children in the absence of a teacher.
Personal Qualities
The Food Program Coordinator/Support Teacher must be physically able to perform the job of caring for young children.
The Food Program Coordinator/Support Teacher must have a warm, supportive, and respectful attitude toward children, families, and co-workers.
They must be reliable, flexible in receiving assignments and adapting to changes in the program.
The Food Program Coordinator/Support Teacher must be willing to reflect on her/his own work, be supervised, and be evaluated to improve performance.
