PUC National is a non-profit organization that serves to promote, support, benefit, replicate, and carry out the purposes and mission of Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC Schools). 

We have a contractual relationship with Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC Schools) to provide a variety of support services to the schools in NE Los Angeles and the NE San Fernando Valley. This includes but is not limited to Finance, Human Resources, Operations, IT and Data Management, facilities identification and acquisition, fundraising, grant management, college access, alumni relations, charter development and renewal, and compliance.

The Team Member we are searching for

The ideal Credential Assistant believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC National and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, and collaboration to ensure schools’ success across the organization. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Credential Specialist, the Credential Assistant will have the opportunity to learn about credentials, perform clerical work related to educator credentialing, support in monitoring certificated assignments while learning about the state and federal regulations. The Credential Assistant will have the opportunity to learn the multiple areas of Human Resources.

What you will need to accomplish:


  • Assist with meeting with new hires and employees to collect and process paperwork for credentials and permits

  • Assist with evaluating transcripts to determine eligibility for credential and permits

  • Assist with evaluating documents to determine eligibility for PUC Induction and Teacher Residency Programs

  • Follow up with certificated employees to ensure credentials/permits are current and valid 

  • Support with the ESSA Grid project by providing reports, printing/scanning documents and reviewing grids

  • Assist with gathering and evaluating data for state and federal reporting 

  • Ensure the substitute teacher tracker is continuously updated and maintained, while also notifying leaders of approaching substitute placement end date

  • Maintain the HRIS system by ensuring it is updated with relevant updates and changes

  • Support in ensuring the quality tracker is reviewed and update the HRIS system if necessary

  • Assist with processing pay for certificated employees by submitting pay changes in HRIS system

  • Assist with processing and tracking point form submission, transcripts, salary placement, and issuance of employment agreements

  • Follow up with employees concerning their application for salary points and transcripts via phone call and e-mail

  • Conduct audits of employee files to ensure correct salary placement

  • Enter information in the HRIS system to ensure credentials and permits are up to date

  • Research, gather data and produce reports

  • Assist with developing standard operating procedures, presentations, preparation of compliance documents and memos

  • Assist in conducting in-person and virtual trainings and presentations

  • Support in answering employee inquiries via email, phone, or in person

  • Complete administrative duties such as composing letters, filing, copying, scanning, etc.

  • Attend CTC, LAUSD, LACOE credentialing workshops and conferences

  • Assist the Credential Specialist on special projects

  • Assist the HR department with clerical duties or hosted events

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What do we require from you?

Minimum Qualifications

Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources or related field, or in progress required

Experience:


  • 1 year of administrative experience required

  • 1-2 years of HR experience preferred

  • Experience in a school setting preferred

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Excellent customer service Skills

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

  • Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
