Position: Staff Software Engineer



Job Location: 860 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086



Duties: Design, architect and develop automation tools for managing Storage infrastructure in Walmart datacenters and public cloud. Participate in agile process under Storage and Data protection teams and execute software engineering projects by collaborating with various storage architects and storage engineers. Implement observability and monitoring for various storage devices procured from vendors such as Netapp, Pure, Hitachi, Commvault and IBM. Work with engineering teams from storage vendors to understand and integrate with APIs provided. Build data pipelines to provide insights into KPIs for Storage and Data protection infrastructure. Work with junior members of the team for planning, designing, estimating and executing various automation tasks involved to process storage customer requests within SLA. Adopt modern platform offerings such as WCNP, MMS and MLS for Storage automation infrastructure to reduce cost and improve overall utilization of the hardware resources. Provide feedback by participating in architectural review of new vendor tools, services being added to Storage infrastructure. Develop storage Infrastructure portal to offer self services for Storage provisioning, Data migrations, storage software and firmware upgrade planning and scheduling. Report and review storage ownership by various applications and organizations in Walmart by integrating with data from Walmart internal tools. Build machine learning workflows to forecast and detect anomalies based on storage monitoring data. Publish quarterly goals for storage automation, estimate coordinating with other automation engineers and work with stakeholders to prioritize. Participate in agile development process and demonstrate automation features and enhancements on bi-weekly basis and incorporate feedback.



Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 6 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment; OR Master's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 3 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment.



Skills required: Experience designing, architecting, developing and deploying REST based webservices using object-oriented programming language including Python and user interfaces using JavaScript and HTML. Experience with automation for deployment, provisioning, monitoring and upgrading Storage on SAN, NAS by vendors including Netapp, Pure, and Hitachi. Experience monitoring Infrastructure logs using Splunk and Metrics using Grafana. Experience building Analytical data pipelines using big data technologies including Kafka, Object storage, bigQuery and Looker Dashboards. Experience developing, testing, packaging and deploying automation code using Jenkins, Artifactory and Kubernetes. Experience data modeling, schema design for transactional systems using Relational database to serve as backend for storage portal. Experience developing containerized applications and deploying into Kubernetes infrastructure for all storage automation frameworks. Experience working with Public cloud technologies for building storage automation reports. Experience building Machine learning models to forecast infrastructure usage, detect anomalies in monitoring data and provide early insights. Experience deploying, Monitoring and Building Cost reporting Models for Storage Tenants in private cloud. Experience debugging, trouble shooting and fixing application performance using performance monitoring tools including Dynatrace. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.




Salary Range: $150,762/year to $286,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
