Position: Senior Data Scientist
Job Location: 165 Dascomb Road, Andover, MA 01810
Duties: Research and develop novel computer vision and machine learning applications and systems for a growing portfolio of state-of-the art robotics products. Develop algorithms using both classical machine vision and AI-powered approaches to solve machine vision-related problems. Conduct research contributing to the development of novel computer vision and machine learning for semi-autonomous robotic systems. Implement, debug, and integrate robust embedded C++ applications to deliver key capabilities. Work with the electrical, mechanical, systems, safety, and other cross-functional teams to document and detail machine vision system requirements and perform component selection. Perform feasibility studies for machine vision capabilities given suboptimal hardware systems. Model proposed machine vision systems to determine their efficacy before acquiring hardware. Evaluate new sensors for robotic machine vision products. Evaluate the performance of experimental machine vision systems. Identify and detect objects and pose in potentially cluttered scenes with suboptimal conditions. Research and develop modular, well-architected, and well-documented code. Create software acceptance tests. Assist with user manuals and software documentation. Investigate potential refinements and enhancements to existing systems to improve system accuracy and performance. Reconstruct scenes using low-fidelity inputs. Develop robust machine vision systems utilizing low-cost COTS equipment. Identify key opportunities for improvement across all of products. Develop a library of advanced features to share among multiple product lines. Collaborate within cross-functional teams to develop novel solutions to real-world problems. Play an active role in group discussions to share and gain knowledge. Monitor, investigate, assess, and implement state-of-the-art computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence techniques.
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (Any), or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (Any), or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field.
Skills required: Experience with research and development software engineering including Computer Vision and photogrammetry. Experience with camera calibration, camera pose estimation, perspective-n-point problems, point clouds, 3D reconstruction, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), multi-view geometry, stereovision, homography, perspective projection, and image processing. Experience designing and developing networked multi-threaded applications and systems that utilize machine learning, internet communication protocols, and communication theories and techniques. Experience with sensors, sensor data, and signal processing on embedded systems with constraints. Experience with signal/object detection and signal processing algorithms and techniques. Experience with algorithm development and programming on embedded devices/systems. Experience writing software in C++ and Python. Experience with software management suite. Experience with software configuration management, defect tracking, and peer review methodologies. Experience with software development and usage experience with power-over-ethernet (PoE) and USB industrial vision sensors/cameras. Experience with rolling-shutter and global shutter cameras for stationary as well as non-stationary robots. Experience with software development and usage experience with 3D depth cameras, point cloud library, eigen library, and OpenCV library.
