Wood is currently recruiting for an Instrument and Electrical Designer with experience in the chemical manufacturing industry. As the Instrument and Electrical Designer you will be responsible for design work supporting facility based projects in an active chemical manufacturing plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet or exceed the company's safety standards
Comply with all company procedures, engineering practices and other standards
Read and fully understand P&ID's and other documents which describe the scope of work to be done
Provide electrical and instrumentation design support to capital and service projects in a fast paced environment
Design of MV and LV electrical systems, including both power, control and instrumentation wiring
Application of company and industry standards to generate instrument and electrical construction packages
Design of instrumentation and control systems and associated wiring, panels, etc.
Work closely with plant engineers, contractors, and team members to achieve project success
Field as-built, measurement, and design as project requires
Assist with material take-offs and construction estimating
QUALIFICATIONS
Electrical Skills desired:
Functional knowledge of National Electrical Code
Experience with basic power, lighting and grounding design. We typically don't work with voltages higher than 480VAC
Relay logic design experience
Motor elementary design experience
VFD elementary and controls design experience
Create and maintain typical Electrical drawings: Single Line Diagrams, Power Panel Schedules, Power Plans, Lighting Plans, Motor Control elementaries, Cable Schedules, etc..
Ability to respond to questions from electrical contractor and assist with startup testing
Instrumentation / Controls skills desired:
Create and modify instrument loop diagrams
Create and modify control system schematics (120VAC, 24VDC...)
Rudimentary control panel design and specification of components
Provide instrumentation input on P&IDs
Specify instrumentation based on given process and piping information
Control system platforms used on site: Foxboro IA, Allen Bradley PLCs (PLC-5, ControlLogix), Siemens S7
CAD skills desired:
Plant standard CAD system is AutoCAD
We have recently migrated from Microstation. So, there will be some familiarity with Microstation needed
Ability to create or modify electrical and controls drawings: Single Line Diagrams, Power Panel Schedules, Power Plans, Lighting Plans, Motor Control elementaries, Cable Schedules, etc..
