We are seeking a Surgical Recovery Specialist to assist with the recovery and preservation of the heart and lungs for transplant . The UW Organ and Tissue Donation (OTD) service is recognized as one of the most successful organ procurement programs in the nation.

We are seeking a Surgical Recovery Specialist to:

• Travel around the country to assist UW organ recovery surgeons with the removal of organs for transplant, research, etc. according to UW OTD established protocols and procedures.
• Work with specialized devices and procedures to preserve organs for transplant.
• Assist with organ preservation and diagnostic testing .
• Discuss the organ donation process and provide onsite support to donor hospital, transplant and OPO staff .

Education :

Minimum - Post-secondary education in the field of surgical technology, surgical assistant, health sciences or applied sciences. Individuals with considerable relevant clinical and surgical experience may be considered.

Work Experience :

Minimum - Five (5) years of relevant clinical and/or surgical experience

Preferred - AB-SRS - Experience in abdominal organ procurement and/or transplantation. CT-SRS - Experience in cardiothoracic organ procurement and/or transplantation. Both - Experience with organ preservation devices

Licenses and Certifications :

Minimum - Valid State of Wisconsin Driver's License

Preferred - Licensed in the State of Wisconsin as a Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, or Surgical Technologist First Assistant NCCPA certified or NCCPA eligible.
