Position Description
This position will assist the General Superintendent. The Grading Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of grading operations. This position will travel.
Duties and responsibilities
Oversight: production, equipment (needs and maintenance), personnel, quality, documentation, good communication
Read and understand plans & specifications
Grade Staking: ability to read, understand, and set grades
Work with the owner’s representative & subcontractors
Enforce safety regulations
Efficiently direct all grading-related operations
Check all fluid levels daily and perform daily walk-around inspection, including greasing as necessary, when operating equipment
Train Foreman & crew members to become efficient & safe employees
Prepare various daily reports and track quantities of daily work
Facilitate and establish teamwork and cohesion among all assigned personnel and crews
All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Position Requirements
Qualifications
Previous supervision of crew in grading road construction required
Preferred minimum: 3-5 years with GPS-implemented systems
Must possess a valid Driver’s License (Class A CDL a plus)
Ability to read and comprehend construction plans and proposals
Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises
May be required to work 60+ hours, 6 days a week
Physical requirements
Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments
Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
