Job Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising, scheduling, and leading a group of employees to meet changing operational and departmental goals. Production Supervisors provide direction, coaching, and clear expectations to ensure the team is working safely, meeting customer demand, solving problems, eliminating waste, and meeting goals. The Production Supervisor holds the team accountable with clear communication and escalates issues as necessary.
Responsibilities
Ensures employees are operating in compliance with State, Federal, BOL, and OSHA regulations
Responsible for hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Oversees production operations, work cells, and other value-added processes in relation to operational efficiency and continuous improvement
Assists in the investigation of customer complaints and quality problems in the field and in the process
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules and quality standards
Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment and makes recommendations to the planning and scheduling organization
Recommends measures to improve production performance, equipment performance, and quality of product and suggests changes in use of equipment to increase efficiency
Monitors performance and implementing corrective actions to meet department goals
Directs the implementation of lean initiatives including 5S, standardized work, work balance, product flow, and TPM improvements
Tracks scrap rates and acts to reduce scrap
Maintains overall schedule to internal and external customers
Communicates issues, problems, etc. with incoming shift and upper management
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
High School Degree or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline preferred
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a related field
Computer proficiency, familiar with MS Office and Excel
Demonstrated ability to make supervisory-level decisions and hold employees accountable
Ability to handle disciplinary actions and proper documentation
Must have a basic knowledge of technical machinery and process equipment
Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
